Free the Green is a Washington based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and licensed contractor working to restore habitat, grow native plants, and strengthen community resilience. Our work supports salmon habitat, place-based stewardship, and landscapes that make space for traditional first foods, ecological health, and long-term care of the land.

Our work is rooted in accountability to place, community, and the Indigenous peoples whose lands we live and work on.
Free The Green is privileged to live, work, and learn on the traditional, ancestral, and stolen territories of the Duwamish (dxʷdəwʔabš), and Muckleshoot (bəqəlšuł). We acknowledge that we are residing on Indigenous, and unceded, untreatied land in what is now known as Washington State, USA. We at Free The Green recognize our responsibility to prioritize Indigenous perspectives, leadership, and sovereignty in both within our professional and personal endeavors.

Purpose Statement
The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific, and environmental purposes, in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. Specifically, our focus is on ecosystem restoration, environmental justice, sustainability, biodiversity, and supporting tribal sovereignty. We aim to foster environmental stewardship through habitat restoration, education, community engagement, and knowledge sharing, incorporating both scientific and Indigenous perspectives.
